When does the choir rehearse?

Choir rehearsals are Mondays from 1-2:30 from September to the end of April. Tea and cookies follow each rehearsal.

Where does the choir rehearse?

Choir rehearses at Scarboro United Church in the Marilyn Perkins Hall

134 Scarboro Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta

What is the cost to join the choir?

The current fee is $100 per session (fall and winter) for a total of $200 per year.

Is choral experience necessary?

If you love to sing, we would love to have you. This is a non-auditioned, four-part choir (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass).  The ability to read music is not necessary but would be helpful.

Can I attend a rehearsal before deciding to join the choir?

Yes, you may attend a rehearsal at any time.  However, we would suggest the month of September or January when we begin learning new music.

What kind of music does the choir sing?

During the fall session, we concentrate on Christmas songs and carols.

During the spring session, our music is eclectic- gospel, pop, folk, musicals (whatever strikes our director’s fancy).

How often does the choir perform in public?

We try to perform three times each session usually at Seniors’ Residences.  We have a year end concert usually the first Sunday in May. We do accept performance requests from other organizations.

What do choir members wear for performances?

Our basic wardrobe is white, long-sleeved shirts, black pants or long skirts.  Click here for more detailed information.

Are rehearsal and performance spaces wheelchair / walker accessible?

Our rehearsal space is wheelchair / walker accessible.  As most of our performances are in Seniors’ Residences, accessibility needs can usually be accommodated.

Can you make payment accommodations for seniors on fixed / limited incomes?

We want people to experience the joy of singing, so payment options are available.

How can I get in touch with someone if I have other questions?

If you send an email to [email protected], either the director or president will respond to your questions.
